I find myself not always using an exotic in any weapon slot. I feel that most of them you use for fun. Like I've been having a blast with The First Curse. I have way better legendaries, but I use TFC just to use it. Some exotics serve their purpose only in really specific situations. It all depends... But some do need some boosts or help.
