please god no. I played Dark souls 3 and almost dropped my controller when a noob I was helping opened a mimic chest and died... Good Times.

I have gotten munched by a mimic in every souls game. "They wouldn't put a mimic out in the open like this." (Hits every chest except for the mimic chest)

Not in dark souls 2 buddy... Slightly darker color and slightly opened. And it was a (almost) guaranteed kill.
