The biggest thing that I blame activision for is cutting destiny up and making them sell it as DLCs, but that's been over for a while, I also blame them for microtransactions.
To answer your questions though, Bungie isn't some all powerful being, the people at bungie are humans too, they have to pay for their workers wages, and they have to pay for development. Look at it this way, I've paid ~$150 for my destiny experience, and I have gotten ~60 days of play time for that money, that's less than $1 for every 8 hours that I spend playing destiny. If that's not a good value, I don't know what is.
The thing about the bundles is pretty simple, actually. They have to get new players to keep the game alive, and you don't get that with a $150 price tag.
