That sounds ludicrous. What's the point in putting hundreds (if not thousands, for some players) of hours into your characters if they're only going to get scrapped every 2-3 years? There'd be no point in growing any attachment to any of your characters, no use in trying to master any subclasses for the long run. I'd sooner latch onto my GTA V Online character.

Just look at Halo. Every time you start with nothing unlocked. Then the next title comes out and you start all over again. Rarely, if ever, has any franchise allowed users to import a character exactly as it was at the end of the previous title release into a new title and let them continue on as they were.

  • Halo isn't an MMO-hybrid game. Destiny is. Any any MMO-hybrid game worth it's salt won't throw away it's fambase's characters if it wants to keep that fanbase.

    Read: "Practically" and "rarely" The vast vast majority do not. You're only listing one exception out of many.

    "Rarely, if ever" I understand you weren't ruling out every example of character imports to ever exist, I was just highlighting one (relatively recent) example that imports and works.

  • Destiny is also one of the exceptions. The point is that it's an exception and people are ignoring the norm that they accept without question from practically every other game. It's just an observation.
