Generally a reset is how most sequels go. The story may continue but characters don't... in terms of progression that is. Otherwise why would anyone new want to play? That's where the money is.

But they could just do as they did with ROI. Any new starter gets a boost to level 40 (assuming level 40 is what we'll end Destiny "1" at) and all of their 3 subclasses fully upgraded. New subclasses will then be the same for everybody and weapons/armour can be left behind in the same way year 1 transitioned to year 2.

Where's the fun in that? Exploring, learning & upgrading is what made the game fun... and so addictive! Otherwise your just hanging around waiting for the next DLC! Screw the Year 1 snobs! Reset I say!! :)

  • Agreed but somebody buying Destiny 2 without importing from Destiny "1" will have already missed all the fun in progressing 1-40 anyway. It'll make no difference to them missing out on levelling 1-40 and the 3 subclasses we have atm because they obviously had no interest in doing so in the first game. As far as a newbie is concerned, Destiny 2 starts 40-80 (made up number but you get my point*) and with the 3* subclasses everybody will be levelling in Destiny 2.

Most games aren't like Destiny. Yes it's a shooter, but the character building/leveling is much more akin to WoW than say CoD. Not sure again how carrying forward our Guardians would negatively impact anyone who wanted to reset. Edit: also, why does anyone new play WoW? New players would still play regardless. Why should we all reset because someone waited 3 years to play? No thank-you
