Disagree, I want to start at 0 again, new gear, and new skills. Keep the grimoire, keep the look of the character but that's it.
Opening scene have the tower destroyed, lose all the gear because of it and you "just" survive weakening you back to level 0.

Except for the fact that Destiny is a lot more like an MMO than people want to accept. I've called it since the first month Destiny came out and people will see soon enough. Destiny 2 will be an expansion on the world we already have (a massive one in comparison to any other expansions, but one nevertheless.) There is no way they are going to drop the dozen+ strikes, 25+ pvp maps and 4 raids to create a new game that has less content than that to start with. Instead they'll likely revamp a lot of that content and tack on a large chunk of new stuff, introducing new planets to expand our Destiny universe. Despite this though it is still possible for them to do something similar to a reset with your story idea which is pretty cool (also not the first time such an idea has been suggested). They might keep the content, but still decide to revamp the leveling/loot/classes system you use to interact with the world and the story style reboot would be the obvious way to do it.

I really hope so, they have to extend the world,
