Have you played Mass Effect? Because if you did, you would know... you didn't keep your GEAR. You got credits to jump start the next installment. Not gear.

  • Mass Effect is the closest i know, however Destiny isnt like other games, its a looter shooter, not just your average FPS or Story driven game. There is absolutly no reason we shouldn't be able to transfer our characters in a similar system to Mass Effect. Have Destiny 2 have the option to import your Destiny 1 characters or start from scratch. Next import all of your gear, weapons and vault to Destiny 2. Have the characters light level and XP level reset. Depending on if you imported or started afresh will depend on your starting level. For example Mass Effect had a system to where if you were level 60 in ME1 you would be level 20 in ME2 instead of level 5 for example. Have the same for Destiny 2. Next have the ability to import all your gear and character from Destiny 1. Have a similar system in place as before. Have the max light of Destiny 1 be the equivalent of low light in Destiny 2. That way you can still use Destiny 1 gear while upgrading to Destiny 2 gear (make it a more smooth transition). After the end of the game players are given the ability to ascend Destiny 1 gear to Destiny 2 levels. Year 1 Gear- Most of the weapons in Year 1 was OP and were rediculously good. In this situation only bring back specific Year 1 Weapons that are more easily able to be balanced. -Shadow Price -LDR 5001 -Badger CCL etc. Year 1 Gear that cannot be ascended can be either stored in the vault or a kiosk (Triumphs and Trophy's Kiosk) where it can be kept for safekeeping. Year 2 Gear can be fully ascendable Year 3 Gear i assume should be fully ascendable. Obviously Bungie can place certain weapons in the ascension pool according to their disgression. Now because Destiny 1 Ascension cannot be unlocked untill a certain point it allows people to get aquainted with Desiny 2's gear so people will not just stick to Destiny 1 weapons. This way it keeps both sides happy. People will be able to start afresh as wanted. People who dont feel like all the effort poured into Destiny 1 wasnt in vain as all there gear is at least transferable to each game whether relevant or not. If you want to go back and use Destiny 1 weapons and gear, options will be available. Plus it allows veteran players to show off exclusive loot to new players which cannot be obtained anymore, building the whole point of Destiny 'Becoming Legend'.
