I've had a job since I was 15 and got another one when I was 18. First job is only seasonal. But I orderfill full time and make $21 an hour. 2 years later and I have more money than I know what to do with it.

21$ isn't a whole lot.

$21 an hour without any schooling beyond high school is definitely great. Now it's $25

Edited by VULFDREK: 4/12/2017 10:45:00 PMSeeing as how you're choosing to just randomly respond to my posts just goes to show how childish you are. You were literally better off letting Tron and me finish speaking. Your ill mannered attitude is easy enough to gauge the fact that you are a waste to even debate with. You can't even grasp the conversation me and Tron were having, yet immediately got butt hurt enough to sit here and try to defend a simple statement. You can make 21$ even 25$/hour and I won't be impressed. Why? Because I can manage money through 8$/hour. Be happy you make the money you do, maybe invest in some basic economical understandings. Perhaps even social standards. I'm sure I'm not the only one on this site making more than 25$/hour. Don't squander your money by trying to be a show off.
-
It's not how much money you make, it's how much money you can save. $21/hour can be plenty of money if your overhead isn't high.... You could also make $210/hour and live paycheck to paycheck. Accounting...
-
Yes, but that's not my point. He posted his 21$ an hour like it was a major game changer and now life is grand. I make way more than I did 2 years ago and my budget is about the same. I save money over spending so I always had money. Only different is upgraded house and so forth. Person could have easily posted what they wanted to without giving any numbers, but they did so with the incentive to make it seem like they were paid a lot. 21$ is good, but I wouldn't go around saying "I have more money then I know what to do with because I get paid 21$ n hour. That's pretty much what they said and so I said what I said.
-
Lmao chill kid. That was 2 years ago. Now I'm 20 making $25 an hour with an extra 30% incentive on every check. I'm not rich by any means, but I'm also not making minimum wage nor am I jobless. Come down from your pedestal kid.

Edited by Tron Code: 4/12/2017 8:40:11 PMAgain, it all comes down to budget... Like I said, overhead will make or break anyone. If he has plenty of money from making $21/hour then he obviously has low overhead that allows his to save quite a bit for his economical bracket. Ironically $21/ hour is just about average in America, so if the person has low overhead, they should be doing great, and saving a lot of money. It's all perspective...
-
You're taking what I said and going somewhere else with it. Reread what I just stated to you.
-
Hmm... I reread it but I'm not sure what I'm missing. $21/hour is a lot to made for many, and can completely be a game changer for someone in the right circumstance. I'm sure he stated actual numbers because those numbers, in his overhead chain, are quite a bit to him.
-
I simply explained how he didn't have to go into numbers, and that if he was good at budgeting his money with 15$ then shifting to 21$ wouldn't have changed his way of life so much. The initial shift of 15$ to 21$ an hour is good, but it isn't a big life changing change unless you struggled beforehand. Either way I could make an 8$ an hour job make me look like I'm making money simply because of how I handle my money. My point of calling him out was simply because his post comes off snarky. In fact his post has no actual connection with the original OP's point.
-
I didn't change from $15 to $21. You need to reread some things buddy. 15 was how old I was when I got my first job.

Edited by Tron Code: 4/12/2017 9:38:34 PMAre we reading different posts? This person never said they made $15/hour... They only talk about now making $21/hour So again, $21/hour in the right circumstance is definitely a lot of money; maybe not in your predicament, but nonetheless in his and many many others. It also has everything to do with the initial post. He clearly explains that he has plenty of extra money to purchase a game like Destiny 2... if he's in a comfortable position to purchase it, then all other opinions are void.
-
Ah know what I was outside when I read his post as the sun was on my phone. I thought he stated making 15$ and then jumping to 21$ thus money not being an issue in his life anymore. That part's on me. Though I still don't agree 21$/hour is a lot of money. That of course is all on personal opinion. 21$/hr to me should be the average of what someone should be making with a well background if not close. It's decent money to hold yourself down depending on your life choices.
-
You're making your opinion on an equation that has ever changing variables. There is no right or wrong answer in terms of; is $21/ hour x,y, or z. Example: If you're an upstanding person with good credit, and live within your means; you could easily live well. All the while saving money into the proper ira's and creating compounding wealth. I know plenty of friends who earn approximately 40k/ year, have kids, have a nice home, and Have compounding ira's. Or You could not pay your bills on time, live outside of your means, not save money, buy foolishly, and live paycheck to paycheck. I also have a few buddies that make far more than 40k/year and are always broke... No home, no kids, nothing... They could make 500k/year and they'd still find a way to spend it all. Money is relative my friend. Especially in a country where we're forcefully taught to buy buy buy and live as far outside of our means as possible. You have no idea how many of our clients make 10-15% less than this person, but have accumulated a healthy 6 figure solo stock ira over just 10 years of guidance.
-
Tron no disrespect as I get your point. I'm not saying you are wrong, I am merely stating that 21$/hour isn't a means for him to say he's basically rolling around in money. I'm not even saying it's impossible for him to have 6 digit figures because as you said the 21/hour portion is relative and doesn't even give enough information to gauge his overall income. Afterall a 21$/hour job could be beat by a 10$/hour job depending on hours and specific benefits. So once again, I'm not saying 21$/hour is garbage or trash pay. I'm saying it's not a lot of money because to me it isn't. Again as an example, I could treat a minimum wage job the same as a job paying me 21$/hour. Reason being the missing variables I didn't include. Not to sure what to debate on anymore, unless you just want to discuss business and equity. Not trashing OP, and not trashing you either. Just stating, 21$/hour isn't a lot because in the right hands a lesser amount could still equal out to more money. So him stating his hourly wage wasn't really needed unless he wanted to show off how much he made.
-
So it's not a lot of money to you, but a lot of money to others. Simple.
-
That's one point. I also just didn't see the need for him to state his hourly wage without giving any more details as if that set wage made all the difference. Afterall 21$/hour is nice but if your hours are let's say 20 a week, you'd make less than someone working 10$/hour having 50 hours a week. The missing information just seemed pointless for them to point out their hourly wage to begin with. Personal opinion of course on my behalf though.
-
I mean no offense, but I think you're actually just confusing yourself... He basically said he has plenty of money right off the bat. Deductive thinking, from him stating proudly that he makes $21/hour-- 1) That's a lot of money to him, and--2) his bills/overhead are obviously low enough to be able to say he's very comfortable financially... Why would it bother you that he put a number down? This was a thread about money and how you spend your money, somewhat; I don't see the issue, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
-
I'm not confused, I think you're just confused about how I see their income. It isn't the fact that he said he has plenty of money, it's just the fact that I didn't see a point in him stating his 21$/hr. This is a simple pet peeve of mine as I have always gone with; the amount of money you make is irrelevant and is only dependent on how well you manage it. I already explained the value of 21$/hour. So yeah, I'm bothered by the lack of information to his total sum of throwing 21$/hr out to where it needs to be impressed. But you are correct this thread is about money, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion and how they choose to express themselves.
