I think that fact that video games have stayed a constant $50 - $60 for the past two decades compared to the rise of video game budgets should be the real augment here. A 90s video game's budget is overshadowed by today's standards of a AAA title. As a consumer, we should be expecting to be paying $80 - $100 for a game to counteract this along with inflation and other things - I mean, look at gas prices through the years. MY OPINION: With DLC, publishers can cut up the game, making "payments" until you get the full game. If you don't like the base game, no one is forcing you to pay for the full product - simple as that. And most of the time, the game is 100% still playable with the base $60 payment.
