Sounds like you should go play CS:GO. Some of us like to play with everything we have access to.
Less ability usage = more dull. I enjoy making builds around ability synergy or the super itself. It adds flavor to the game.

You can still play with all your stuff, you just can't go entire matches on using it
-
You don't go entire matches before either. Unless you're playing mayhem. They already nerfed the shit out of abilities, so why need to make them less available on top of that ? SC isn't a OHKO, fusion grenades aren't a OHKO, etc. There was no need to make the ability and super recharge rate so slow.
-
Because if you are actually good at the game then you can outgun someone and not need the one shot kill cheese abilities.
-
If you were actually good at the game it wouldn't matter if they had 1 shot cheese abilities....
-
You have a 1.1. I bet you can barely get 10 kills in the d2 beta
-
Sorry to disappoint you, but I've placed top every time with upwards of 16 kills a game so far, only played 3 games though so that's whatever. Abilities are a baseline that every character had and they were respectively equal. There worth was chow you use them and how good you were at using them. You say gun fights are where the skill is at. Except with how rng and guns in general work in d1 they can completely negate skill. There are plenty of situations in d1 where someone can do everything right and still lose because they had a shit gun, regardless of skill. I don't think it's any surprise that you use the best weapons you can get your hands on (and v they are Some of the best)and no one should fault you on that. But when you say gun fights in v destiny are where skill is that c mashes c no sense. Gun fights are where luck reign supreme. People have to get rely on luck just to get a weapon that's usable in the crucible. Basically there is a gun economy made of people with good and bad guns. It has a top% and you're in it.

Says the guy running palindrome/matador gtfo....
-
So let me get this straight, you're mad at a player that doesn't handicap him or herself ? You can use those abilities yourself, if you choose not to it's your choice. It doesn't automatically mean you're better than that player by any means. Like I said, go play CS:GO if you get butthurt over someone straight up out playing you. I don't care what someone uses to kill me. If I get out played I get out played. Put your big boy pants on. And like I've said in a previous reply, the only reason why abilities got such huge usage towards the end of D1's life span was because of the constant nerf to primaries.
-
Ok. Now abilities are gone and the game feels great.
-
Before there was just too many abilities. They're trying to make the game competitive. To that end they're making the gameplay more gun focused
-
Edited by Umbra Volpes: 7/18/2017 10:48:29 PMDestiny never will be competitive. Ever. Supers and abilities will always unbalance pvp. Always. And again Bungles went the wrong route for "balance". You want balanced? You will have to sacrifice all variety. No supers, no abilities, one gun for each archetype Generic grenades Uniform armor, mobility, regen timers, and mobility options. Near Everything that makes destiny fun Will have to be cut, to balance this game.
-
I disagree, with the abilities being available much less it's more about how efficiently you use them that factors into winning fights
-
Sure, i can get with that. But they they are still currently holding themselves back by not seperating how weapons and abilities work in pve and pvp. Like seriously how hard is it to have one little mission that, in short, says "your gear and powers don't work on guardians like they do on your enemies they were made to kill."
-
Agreed there. Pvp and pve NEED to be separated at some point. It just has to happen.
-
Overwatch is the most competitively played game out there. Abilities are much faster in that game including ults. Explain your logic now dingus
-
Overwatch also has extremely fast ttk and almost none of the abilities are 1 hits. It's a very different shooter than destiny and it's a lot more objective focused. Overwatch also has zero customizability. You can't change perks or moves so everyone is on a level playing field
-
Edited by IcyShogun: 7/18/2017 10:00:06 PMAnd killing what lured a lot of people to it in the first place. When I first saw desiny my first thought was "great another FPS". But then I saw that it had abilities on top of guns and you didn't have to rely on your guns only and thought "this could be interesting, I might give it a go". If destiny 1 was as boring as destiny 2, I would have never spent as much time on it.
-
To each their own, the abilities are good but I feel it could have been done better in D1
-
No there weren't ? The over nerfing of primaries is what causes the ability usage spike lmfao. And FYI, it is very possible to have a competitive fps with ability usage.
-
No its not. They have taken out anything that 1 shots outside of supers. In D1 you could have a trip mine every 30-45 seconds with the right perks. Pair that with a strong shotty and you never needed to touch your primary . Up until last patch that is. Bungo spoiled the players so now there are gonna be ppl upset you can't just run abilities and actually have to put some effort in to get kills. There's a reason D1 wasn't competitive at all.
-
Here's what you're not listening to. Due to the nerfing of primaries, it caused a usage spike with socials and abilities both. When you go back to year one when primaries were actually viable and could compete with the abilities and the abundance of specials, it was a problem. We had strong primaries, was able to have fun using abilities on the side, and could have the ability to use a special weapon at any given notice. You keep saying Destiny isn't competitive. Okay, so bungie basically put in private matches specifically for the tournament's and sweats community. There is a very active competitive side to Destiny, you just choose not to see it. You guys dwell too damn much on what kills you. I'm sure you'll be here to bitch about some primary in Destiny being too strong or something along those lines. It's great being able to play a game, use everything that it has to offer, and not throw a fit over getting out played. It's A+. Try it out.

Edited by Toonstrack: 7/18/2017 11:30:38 PMIve never been that way but winning in crucible was more a matter of luck in D1 there's no question. Losing a fire fight? Press L1 for a tripmine. Trapped in a corner but don't feel like dying? Fist of panic. It was fun but frustrating. It was anything but being outplayed. It was more like being 'outlucked' if you will
-
I'm sorry but if you think it just relied on luck you can have this mute. Of course you play it off as just being luck. No offence but you looks like you have a hard time regardless of what someone is using against you. Not only that you have very little time played in the crucible. Sounds like you just use that as a coping mechanism. Great convo.
-
I mean if you wanna mute me fine, but it seems you me you don't want to think your crucible wins may not have been as skill based as you'd like. I can respect others opinions on the matter, not sure why you cant
