People dont have a problem with fixing systems like match making, people have a problem with a select group demanding that solo end game content be made, because due to living in a reality where resources are limited, it would mean cutting into or cutting out other activities. This is a multiplayer game, so it makes perfect sense that basically all of its end game content is multiplayer focused, and so requires some kind of team or playing with others.

  • I've never seen a single post asking for solo only endgame. Let's keep this based in reality and the reality is that more players log in solo than in groups with friends.

  • One of the posts above yours, one you even replied to asked for that very thing. They specifically asked for solo end game content. So I am very much withing reality thank you very much.

  • I wasn't talking so much about solo only endgame content. I was more referencing things like in Crucible where the matchmaking simply doesn't have to be as bad as it is sometimes. Things like putting two three stacks against a team of solos in quickplay should almost never happen. It also wouldn't hurt to have more solo endgame activities though. Because for the most part anything that you can do solo you can also do with a team but it doesn't work the other way around. And a lot of the things that require you to have a premade fireteam, like raids, are actually some of the least played parts of the game. The new 6 man mathcmade activity looks pretty interesting though and the good thing about it is that it has matchmaking. I think thats what most people mean when they talk about being able to play solo. They don't want to be locked out of content because their whole clan is left and lfg is pretty terrible a lot of the time.

  • The issue with solo focused content is that while everyone can technically do it, it doesn't mean that, that is the kind of content meant for the game, nor does it mean it will be very good. At its core, destiny is a multiplayer game, so having solo end game content really doesn't make much sense. As for match making, it is hard to say how that would turn out for something like a raid. So long as it is optional I don't fully have an issue with it, but some have made good points about the potential backlash from it. Mainly it wouldn't actually solve any issues, the only people to use it would likely be those that can't seem to complete it, don't want to use mics, ect. Mainly the same people left out of LFG right now. Many of these same people would likely end up back on the forums complaining that it is almost impossibly to do for a match made team, or that they never get good teammates, ect. Then we are either left to ignore these same people complaints once again or try and do things like dumb down the raids so they are far less of a challenge. Which many could argue does negatively effect others. To be honest I would say the better option would be to just improve on what we already have. Mainly the guided games system. It is a perfectly legitimate idea for a system, it just isn't excited well. Mainly it doesn't have much of an incentive for people to be guides, and it's match making system could do with some work (like language options, to many people get put with someone that speaks a different language). This could solve a lot of the problems while not being a full match making system with less of the potential issues that come from it.

  • Did you read the op? I'm gonna guess no since you keep bringing up this imaginary request for solo only endgame.

  • Did you even read some of the posts you replied to, I am guessing not or else you would realize that even if you didn't ask for such content other people do and have. Hence the reason I didn't reply to you I replied to someone else.

  • I honestly don't think raids should have matchmaking for the same reasons that you list. But when you look at the participation rates by activity it kind of begs the question of why are raids such a focus in this game. They are literally bungie's crowing achievement, and that's fine, but they have like a 5%-7% participation rate. As far as new modes and things like zero hour/shattered throne, those things should have matchmaking. But what I'm really talking about is Crucible. I'd even go as far as to say that Crucible should have a focus on solo play as far as having some kind of solo based rating or ranking. I think the idea that Destiny is at its core a multiplayer game, which it is, (this is actually one of the things that Bungie has said unlike a lot of the comments that people get out of nowhere when they talk about what kind of game this is) has actually hurt PvP in that it's basically an excuse to let solos be thrown to the wolves. And this has led to a lot of other problems that have led to people giving up on the mode. But you are definitely right that one of the main aspects of Destiny is that its a multiplayer game. I just think Bungie should be careful about going full force with that approach in everything they do. Especially if they are looking for ways to bring the player count up to where it should be.

  • To be fair in many cases the crowning achievement of a game isn't always the one that most of its player base has accomplished. Even in games like Diablo, a huge part of the player base never reaches what would be called the true end game (doing things like greater rift 110 and above), where the real challenge begins. Same thing goes for games like boarder lands, and most MMOs, where the true end game content is actually not completed by a lot of its players because it is more difficult, in one way or another. But again fixing already existing systems like the guided games one, could make those numbers at least a little bit higher, so as to more effectively include those that actually do what to try that true end game content. As for crucible, I can't really speak much on the matter, I have disliked crucible throughout destiny 1 and 2, so I tend to stay far away from it. But as far as I have seen the match making is pretty terrible when it comes to matching pre made teams against solo players. Which is strange because it is clear the system could have ways of easily being fix so as to see who is in a group and who isn't. Yet in all this time they have never bothered to even try fixing it. Seems strange to me, but I don't really play crucible so I guess, what do I know.

  • Honestly if guided games worked right I'd probably have completed at least one raid by now. I feel the same way about going on lfg for things as you do about crucible so I can completely understand. I have no problem with raids being the pinnacle activity for the game, in fact I actually kind of like that they have something like that. Plus the teams that work on Raids and PvP are totally different so its not a matter of manpower when it comes to favoring one over the other. I honestly just don't know how PvP didn't end up becoming as big as it could have. Well actually I do know how... team-based matchmaking that's quite uninviting to solo players, and a few other things that I've babbled about on here far too much over the course of the last year and a half. But you are right about the Raids in that getting as many people to play an activity at any cost doesn't necessarily produce the best activity. I just don't understand that we are a year now without any new PvP content. The Crucible community being toxic or whatever is absolutely no excuse. Especially given what has been going on around PvE nerfs on here lately.

  • Guided Games does work. The problem is that its a long queue line. The number of seekers outweigh the number of guides by about 100 to 1. So for a raid, no way should you expect a raid to finish within an hour just to bring you on board. Besides, its usually the bad raid groups who are desperate enough to gamble on picking up a seeker. They are way better off finding someone more qualified and willing to raid through LFG. Thats just reality. If you really wanted to raid, start your own group through LFG. Be honest. Pick up other newbies like yourself. Its rude when a noobie player cries fowl for not getting into raid groups. They are not there to sherpa, but to get stuff done. 1 hr max and theyre off with other things to do. No one has time to be teaching a noobie for 4+ hours.
