Trying. For example now that Season of the Drifter is live. I'm able to complete the Forge unlock missions solo. Problem is I keep lagging behind the content. I'm hoping to do reckoning when Power level from Opulence Allows me to be more functional soloing the Drifter content. I see people running around the world but asking them to join something I want to do doesn't get any takers. I don't know how to get around it.

Im pure solo and do all the content. Im even top 500 in comp

That's pretty cool. I only go into crucible to suffer through the 5 matches to get the daily and weekly reward. These days I don't have to do that every week as there's so many other sources.
