Um, it's possible to reference something without infringing on Copyright?
-
Um? I didn't mean "Um" is a sarcastic way from my original supply?
-
I didn't mean it sarcastically either.
-
...huh...well alright. But what Easter eggs were there that didnt have copy right stuff? Duke Nukem had Master Chief armor somewhere.

You can make some guy named John the head of the 117th Brigade in the New Monarchy army. Have someone put a gun to someone else's head and have them say "were it so easy". Have some guy high on pain meds in a military hospital who spews nonsense, not the least of which is "frogblast the ventcore!" etc. etc.
-
Frogblast the ventcores = Marathon = Still Bungie's game. Carry on.

'twas an example of how to subtlety reference something without its being direct enough to get sued. The same principle applies.
