Why do you need to be level 30 for the DLC? Level 20 should be plenty to complete all missions and strikes, and level 28 or 29 is probably enough to even run the new raid if you get the opportunity. The DLC has new armor that will get you to lvl 32 and so most likely also has armor to get you to lvl 30.
You probably won't get very far if you have raid matchmaking with people who have never been through it before. I'm all for raid matchmaking, but the reality is that you need at least 1 vet that can explain how the raid works and everyone needs to follow instructions or do what they are told. Raids are not like anything else in the game - the entire team will automatically die (wipe) if one person does something that they shouldn't (i.e. not kill an oracle, get seen by a gorgon, drop the relic, etc.). The only way to know what you should or shouldn't do is to have a raid guide or to have been through it before, or at the very least understand all of the mechanics. You could be doing everything perfect and then just drop over dead because of one person - this happens even in experienced groups.

So what if MM were a button press? As in, optional? Do your stuff solo or with a team you found. Do it with friends or whatever. And the rest of us who want to, can use matchmaking. Of course they'll be issues. Nothing is perfect but having the option is a great start

As mentioned, I fully support raid matchmaking and I would personally use it. Optional matchmaking would be ideal. My opinion is that any raid experience is good experience, even if you aren't going to make it to the end. I actually wanted to raid at level 26 but no one would take me until I reached 27 because the raid escalates to level 28 by the end. Matchmaking would have solved this allowing me to actually get to the templar battles and maybe past.

I support the option for MM. But its gotta be optional as not everyone wants it.

Much like when you play strikes, you learn every time... I didn't know half the cheese spots until I saw ppl do them in strikes
