Congrats, your friend accomplished nothing. Bungievision won't punish a single person just like how they didn't punish anyone for Atheon.
Bungie even acknowledges cheese/glitch strategies. (Go read the last Weekly update)

Bungie acknowledge cheesing with a negative connotation. They also fix the cheese strategies.

It was a humorous connotation actually. And just because they're fixing it doesn't mean its against the rules/illegal to do it. Bungie/DeeJ even said its okay to get glitched Ghosts. No one will get punished.
