No the DLC pays for the DLCs development cost, some maintenance costs, and the profit that Bungie and Activision have a legal duty to earn for the shareholders/investors.
In the open market, $90 doesn't buy you much in terms of entertainment. Which is why video games are one of the worlds biggest bargains and best entertainment values.

pays for the DLC you dumb ass we paid for that when we bought the game they already had it made and on the disc
-
You're silly if you think that. What do you think? They're breaking even by selling this to us? Plenty of games are profitable and fix issues without subscriptions. In a way DLC is a form of subscription pay. Just up front!

Edited by DavyJonesLocker: 1/25/2015 2:14:47 PMDude the dlc was on the disk thats why the download wasnt even a couple of megabytes it was just activating the dlc they made players accept another terms of service just so they couldnt get sued for taking content out

Edited by TheArtist: 1/23/2015 5:43:25 PMNo. You are naive thinking otherwise. This is how the businessworld operates. ...and no it isn't a form of subscription. Because you are paying for CONTENT----content that cost Bungie to develop and market----not ACCESS. Subscriptions for on-line games is paying for access. Because games like WoW also charge you for CONTENT (expansions) ON TOP of what they charge each month for access.
-
In the end, you have to pay if you want access on both models. Subscribers don't pay for DLC last time I checked. It's all the same with a different approach.

I'm a business major, thanks for the flash course though.

Then stop looking at the situation like an entitled consumer, and start looking at it through the eyes of your training.

The wisest move for any business is to put out a product that is of quality? And if their idea of quality doesn't meet the expectations of the consumer... what's the next move? Stick that middle finger up in the air and tell your customers maybe next time, lemmings! Lol. Kelly - we're all aware shareholders take priority in any company. But if you lose all your clientel, you're going to lose your profits. There IS such thing as balancing your profits and quality of your products. Don't go dollar general store on us please.

I'm looking at from an ethical business standpoint.

No you're not. You might be able to fool yourself with that line of crap...
-
Oh ok, your last response has enlightened me. How informative.... -_-

It did nothing of the sort. Just let you know that I'm not going to let you get away with putting forward a rationalization motivated by self-interest...and expect that I'll treat it like a principled argument.
