No. You are naive thinking otherwise. This is how the businessworld operates.
...and no it isn't a form of subscription. Because you are paying for CONTENT----content that cost Bungie to develop and market----not ACCESS. Subscriptions for on-line games is paying for access. Because games like WoW also charge you for CONTENT (expansions) ON TOP of what they charge each month for access.
