There is an obvious, public, bitter rivalry between Bungie and Microsoft
If you don't mind, may I have the source for this?
It isn't obvious at all (at least to me). Bungie didn't want to make Halo games anymore, so they gave up their rights to the franchise in exchange for getting cut loose.
If there was such a bitter rivalry, I doubt they would be allowed to retain the Halo images in our avatars, themes, etc. Not to mention there probably wouldn't have been an Xbox release for Destiny.
Bungie and Microsoft keep trying to one-up eachother in commercials and other marketing. The subtitle, Halo 5: Guardians. The Halo 5 commercial that says, the most epic adventure in Halo history, which implies that Bungie's Halos aren't as good. Destiny supers in Halo 5. The entire ad campaign about the best Destiny experience being on PlayStation. Gamestop not selling any Xbox preorder packages for Destiny, at all, while the store has a whole wall of PlayStation Destiny options. This is Activision and Sony using Bungie as a tool to stick it to their rivals, Microsoft. Frankly, all these shots they're taking at eachother are childish and disgusting.
