bungie, your matchmaking algorithm for iron banner is a mess.
if i don't sweat my absolute balls off, we lose.
if i lose enough, i'm tossed a match where nobody on the other team has a chance against my team.
and then i'm back to sweating or losing.
0 fun.
0 enjoyment.
i guarantee that if it was purely connection based with 0 lobby balancing, it would improve immediately.
fate couldn't be as bad as this concocted monstrosity.

FBMM + SBMM makes IB enjoyable. Now, you can 6-stack without being guaranteed to win. Queue times seem faster, especially when 4 or 5 stacking. Games seem closer (I get that everyone's experience is different, but my games have been competitive) Bungie has already announced that they are changing Lobby Balancing, but idk what they can change to make teams more fair. When one guy is insanely good, teams are difficult to balance

Either I am extremely unfortunate or theyre lying. My guess is the latter. They have 0 cares for this game. Their number 1 goal is engagement. You think theyll spend time to improve their system? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! No.

10 RepliesI havent enjoyed IB ever since they introduced SBMM. It's a dog -blam!- system that completely ruins FPS games for me. Especially one that's already as imbalanced as this one. But the issue is, I like the imbalance to a degree so I really just want them to remove SBMM.

The algorithm is flat out bad. As of today, in Iron Banner I have won 10 games...and lost 28...doesn't matter if I do good, average or bad. Im losing almost 3x as much as winning. I don't care how good/bad you are at the game, nobody enjoys losing to that extent

I am not a very good IB player but have been having fun this time. Most games balanced although I have noticed if I get on winning streak I then get bounced into games with huge latency issues.

Not to mention the absolute years it takes to matchmake, horrible balancing, long load times and stale maps, literally cba to get the pinnacles it's absolute trash. Was looking forward to finally playing this weekend but might as well play cod now

Edited by Agent Smith: 3/26/2023 3:43:23 PMThe matching system is so bad now that my combat efficiency dropped from 2.0 prior to the changes all the way down to 1.2 in IB, and now I'm in a state where I'm constantly getting 2.0-3.0. Not sure if it's me getting better for being thrown into this massacre game after game, or it's the system which just trolled me for 20 games, putting me in vs pro players and now it's kinda balancing that out by putting me into lower tiers instead, where I can do the same to those players. It feels like schitt, if a system was balanced at all my performance in average shouldn't fluctuate in such amplitude.

Im average at best, so I'm not going to claim to be the best player but I know I'm not horrible either. I consistently lose 3-4 matches in a row before I get a win. I'm constantly thrown into teams that are already losing. The point gap is often so atrocious that there's no chance of even making a come back in a lot of these matches. Heck, matches even start off unbalanced and I'm put on teams that are down 1 or 2 people to fight against full teams. If you're not having these problems, honestly I'm happy for you but there are some serious match making issues. And this stuff isn't even exclusive to Iron banner.

My win % is maybe 20%. I think I had roughly 8 games in a row end in mercy the other day. 3 in my favor, 5 against.

I know that Iron Banner is the most fun I've had in a while and I'm loving it. Good distraction from the pain related to post op heart surgery. I love farming people with my Jotun and Krait. Heck some times when I'm lucky I even get a few kills with Reed's Regret. I've been doing fairly well. Can't win or lose them all y'all know. Be chill.

3 RepliesThe algo is fine. The problem is that the entire community are a bunch of sorry mfs. Not a competitive gene in their entire bodies. They all sucked so they switched to MnK and guess what, they still suck just in a more impressive to watch way. Absolute bums. Refuse to shoot their guns, advance more than an inch from spawn and I love it. Every game is a free 6 piece because I know for a fact that all these little boney fingered MnK weebs are going to run before they fight back. And when they do fight it’s only with a teammate and they both die for the trade. The community are the most soft and pathetic people on planet earth and it shows. Perfect prey for players with an attacking mindset.

1 ReplyThe algorithm in Destiny has always been a joke. If you play long enough you can almost always guess when you're going to have games where you will pop off and games when you're going to get stomped. Since D1 Bungie has had in place, where it tries to keep you around only winning 50% of your games. Nothing you can do will change that no matter how hard you try and sweat. You will be guaranteed players on your team who you know shouldn't even be in your lobby. You'll get a 3-4 stack that will stomp your whole team or a 3-4 stack that it wants you to carry. It's why I was such a huge fan of freelance. This new iteration of FTMM is just horrible, but that's always the case when Bungie makes changes to MM in PvP. The backend system of keeping you at 50% will always get in the way of any true balancing. My advice is to just play for fun because you're going to be very frustrated trying to win against the MM system.
